Improvements and Regeneration

Home Improvement Programme 2011 / 2012

Last year we spent over £17 million on improving your homes and communities and this year, we plan to invest another £17 million on works such as window replacement, new kitchens, new doors and gas central heating.

Every year we review our work plans and try to establish the best way to deliver these home improvements taking into account the particular state of properties, availability of contractors, other resources, customer feedback and the funding which is available to us.

We have now finalised the detail for this years home improvement programme, this is shown below and is broken down into the various areas managed by East North East Homes Leeds.  Please note that the programme runs form 1 April 2011 to 31 March 2012.

If your property has been included on this years home improvement programme, we will contact you within 28 days of the work starting to advise which contractor has been appointed to undertake the works.  Please note that if your property is on the programme, it will need to be surveyed first to ensure that the work is required, the contractor will contact you to arrange this.  Some types of work will require a statutory asbestos survey to ensure that if any hazardous materials are found, they can be dealt with in the appropriate manner prior to the actual improvement works starting.

It is important to note that improvement work can start at anytime between 1 April 2011 and 31 March 2012.  Please also note that the programme is subject to change at any time.

We cannot confirm actual start dates with you; it is the responsibility of the Contractor to put the programmes together.  Please do not call our Contact Centre requesting start dates as these are not available at this current time.  We will tell you about a month before the work is due to start.

Gas Central Heating

We are installing full gas central heating to properties which do not have an efficient heating system already installed.  Efficient heating could be storage heaters, underfloor heating or a radiator system.  We are targeting the properties we know require this work doing, but central heating installation is also being prioritised for customers who have a valid medical condition, supported by documentation from their health professional, vulnerable and elderly tenants.

Security Alarms and Security Lighting

We have a programme of fitting security alarms and outdoor lighting ongoing throughout the year.  You can make a request to have an alarm or light fitted, or both if you want.  All our tenants are eligible for this programme; however, priority will be given to victims of burglary and elderly and vulnerable people.
