Information from the Inner East area

Meet the Inner East Area Panel and Community Involvement team

Amber Hendy, Abbas Shah and Lee Griffith - Partnerships Development Officers

We are jointly responsible for the Inner East area, comprising Richmond Hill, Burmantofts, Harehills and Gipton.

We aim to achieve positive results for the residents in these areas through carrying out consultation, meeting with community groups and individuals, seeking out sources of funding and submitting applications and ensuring that schemes are completed successfully.

Meet the panel

Each quarter we will meet an Area Panel member.  This time we are talking to Joyce Gottbrecht who lives in Gipton.

How Did You Hear About the Area Panel?

My Daughter in Law was in the Outer East Area Panel and after I came back from America (I lived there for thirty years) I was involved in a lots of things to do with the community so I though I would get involved.

What Made You Join the Area Panel?

My feelings are that if you don’t get involved, you have no right to complain, and the more people who are involved with their community the better communities we will have.

How Have You Found the Panel Meetings?

Informative on the whole and I’ve been able to put forward opinions and hope that it in some way goes towards making life easier for the tenants and residents who live here.

What Do You Think Needs Doing in Your Area?

I think we need more street cleaning and people need to be made responsible for their gardens.  A lot of the big trees also need to come down as a lot of people complain about them.  In general the area just needs to be cleaned more especially where people throw litter over the streets.
